The Skunk is a 
Poison Type Animal that can be found in the Forest and has a 12% chance of being tamed that can be increased using the Appletor.

Skill[]
Creates a long-lasting toxic cloud that does tick damage to everything in its radius. Using this ability does not freeze it in place. It also reduces player visibility. This skill is mainly used to kill wild animals, as it has high damage over time. However, it is not very effective against players due to them being able to just escape the fog.
Strategy[]
Skunks have many benefits, such as decent health, fast movement speed, and a pretty useful skill, and while it also has disadvantages like having very low regeneration (1 point every 15 seconds). It was considered a decent pet to level up. Unfortunately, when the Boar was added, the number of skunk users decreased as they were completely outclassed and are not worth taming or using anymore. The boar, up till this point, had better stats than the skunk in every aspect except speed, which only lacked by 50 points. Having several skunks though, can kill a wild animal pretty easily, but they aren't the best in what they do. Poison abilities are very effective against lynxes, which are one of the more dangerous pets to fight against, and can also be a nuisance for any plant type pet, but not as useful against player pets. Overall use is for wild animals, not players. Its skill also does no damage to buildings. If you run into a skunk group, and that would mean double trouble. If you have a boss pet, now is the time to get on it and fight for your life. The skunk's high movement speed can be very deadly if you don't have a pet to block the damage.
Fighting against the skunk:
Level 1 (Baby) Not fast, not powerful, poses no threat to you.
Level 2 (Adult) After hitting it a few times, begins to attack you. A moderate pace and kill it just like any other animal for it has very little health. They die pretty fast due to their low health and are not dangerous as long as you know what you're doing
Level 3 (Boss) The skunk boss is pretty easy to kill (if you have axe or katanas) Spin around in circles or run away from it in zig-zags with a melee weapon. Letting it run into double spikes is also a good method. Never run in a straight line unless you have spikes to protect you. a skunks high speed allows it to keep up with you, and straight lines with no pets is a death wish.
Overall, the skunk is a great animal for boss fighting and decent for PvP (Player versus Player). Despite having a below-average health, the skunk makes up for its incredible damage and its high poisoning potential. Without an appletor, it will be a horrible survival pet, at least when you get it, so make sure to invest on regen points! It is certainly very effective against the trent and giant snow tree bosses, and with both poison wings and plague doctor hat, it can do 18 damage per tick to plant types, which can kill boss rabbit in a couple of seconds, and while boar still outclasses it completely with its ability, it is much slower.
Trivia[]
- The skunk has a twin, the polecat. They were released at the same time (November 9), and have basically been the same pet, only differing in stats and the item used to increase taming chance.
- Both of them were also the first ever poison type pets to be released into the game.
